Walmart backs health insurance mandate - The Business Review (Albany):

Walmart (NYSE: WMT) joined the and the (CAP) economix think tank in voicing supporf for mandatedhealth coverage. The Bentonville, Ark.-based retailer's largestg store is in Albany, N.Y. The chain has come under criticiskm in the past for the quality of benefitd offered tosome workers. Walmartg has expanded benefits in recent yearsd and supports federal health care reform that woulr include requirements that employers offer at leastsome coverage. “We are for shared responsibility. Not everyt business can make the same contribution but everyonw must makesome contribution,” said a letter to Obama signecd by Walmart CEO Mike Duke, SEIU President Andy Sterb and CAP CEO John Podesta.
“Wew are for an employedr mandate which is fair and broad in its but any alternative to an employer mandates should not create barriers tohirinhg entry-level workers.” Obama and Congresss are working on health care reforms aimed at providing healthh insurance and controlling costsa for 46 million Americans.
